I've recreated Club Manager within the 3D modelling program, Blender. This allows me to make photo-realistic images of the new board, and create animations. Check out the attached photo!
Following extensive playtesting with the prototype, the game board has gone through a redesign.
The changes in full: there are no longer restrictions on how many staff can visit any spot on the board. This was an unnecessary and unrealistic restriction; board meetings have been removed because they weren't particularly useful (season goals remain); youth scouting now happens much more quickly; player development happens faster too, especially for lower skilled players; there are now 6 (instead of 5) transfer market slots; team morale comes back to the main board and is proving vital for the matchday experience; graphicl tweaks have been made to the league table and the positioning of the logo.
Three prototypes for Club Manager have arrived! What a tremendously exciting moment this is for a game designer - to finally see what resembles a finished version of the game.
My first, and obvious, impression is that I've grossly oversized the game box! It's waaaay bigger than any other board game box out there. A real oversight and a good reminder to measure twice... The great news is this is a prototype so it's the place to make stupid mistakes.
I produced three copies so I can send two to reviewers and keep one at home for playtesting.
